Meeting the needs of young people living in out-of-home care

We are committed to strengthening educational outcomes for young people living in care. We support education providers, carers, and at-risk young people to ensure the best possible learning experiences.

A space of stability

Young people in care, or those with care experiences, often face significant hurdles throughout their education journey. Trauma can lead to disengagement, lower attendance rates and academic performance, and for many, education takes a backseat amidst upheaval and disruption at home.

However, the school environment remains a space of stability for many vulnerable young people. Education settings play a crucial role in maintaining engagement, bolstering confidence and building meaningful relationships.

By creating clear pathways to further education and promoting an understanding among schools and universities about the unique challenges faced by young people with care experiences, we pave the way for their success.
